As a first-time FUSION track chair, selecting the best one-day pre-conference workshops was a formidable undertaking. There was an overwhelming abundance of impressive submissions! But, as a practitioner, I share the challenges many of you face: a demanding job in a high-pressure environment, rapidly changing technology, and a vast array of layers, processes, and personalities. I’m also a mom, a homeowner, a dog-owner, and the HDI 2017 Conference & Expo program chair!
Many people can only attend one conference a year. A one-day pre-con is the perfect opportunity to take away something extra: a deep dive into transformational skills and knowledge. The best practices, frameworks, and processes of service management create stability from chaos. Our private lives are often just as chaotic as our professional environments: work-at-home, 24x7 communication, the cloud, and around-the-clock global services that never sleep.
With this in mind, we present a selection of one-day Pre-cons on timely topics that offer knowledge and growth both professionally and personally. All pre-cons are led by credentialed, well-respected presenters. Here’s a sneak peek:
Innovative Service Portal Design (Phyllis Drucker and Rachel Slater): This workshop utilizes hands-on exercises and a workbook to show how to create a service portal your customers will love and adopt.
All Roads Lead to Integrated ITSM and ITAM (Matt Hooper and Patricia Adams): Use an online analysis tool and gaming to identify operational efficiencies and improvements by converging ITSM and ITAM processes. Reduce waste, reduce risk, improve IT value, and have fun too!
Relationships at Work: Mastering the Common Denominator (Mike Kublin): Relationships are what drive success and allow real-world obstacles to be overcome. Learn about the leadership traits that positively impact relationships and identify ways to improve your work relationships and conflict skills to build relationships.
High-Velocity ITSM: Lean Out Those Processes (Randy Steinberg): The typical IT organization has a nine- to fifteen-day turnaround for change approvals, outages, slow deployment times, and incidents when a new service application is put into production. Had enough? Walk away with practical, implementable tips and techniques for turbo-charging your IT management processes.
Empowered to Thrive: Life Hack Skills for Work and Home (Dr. Beth Haggett): Are you ready for something different? In this workshop, learn how to master your life through self-awareness, self-care, and mindfulness, and learn coaching techniques for increasing engagement, building relationships and connections, and increasing loyalty and commitment.
DevOps FUSION (Roy Atkinson): This full-day workshop features an impressive lineup of DevOps thought leaders. Hear from practitioners and experts who show ways you can draw from the DevOps culture to increase your value to the business.
I hope you will choose to come early to treat yourself to a one-day pre-conference workshop. I look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas!
